Bare-Ground Weed Control for Tank Batteries and Lease Pads in Andrews and Seminole

2 min read

If you run or look after oilfield sites around Andrews and Seminole, late fall is a good time to walk your tank batteries and lease pads with weeds in mind. Most of the summer growth has dried out by now, but the ground around tanks, stairs, and containment walls is exactly where next spring's weeds will come back first.

Tip: walk the pad before winter

On your next site visit, take a few extra minutes and look at these spots:

  • Inside and along containment walls. Weeds and blown-in brush collect in the corners and against the wall where they are hard to reach later.

  • Around stairs, walkways, and ladders. Crews need clear, safe footing, and dry weeds around the bottom steps hide trip hazards.

  • Near valves, gauges, and fire extinguishers. Keep these areas clear so they are easy to see and get to.

  • Along pipe runs, fences, and the pad edge. These strips are where weeds creep in from the pasture.

  • Caliche roads and turnarounds. Weeds that get a start in cracked or low spots spread fast once it warms up.

Make a quick note or take a photo of the worst areas so you know where to start.

Why it matters now

West Texas weeds slow down in the cold, but their seeds are already on the ground waiting for spring. Late fall into winter is a good window to plan a bare-ground or pre-emergent treatment, so the product is in place before the spring flush instead of chasing weeds after they are knee high. Clean pads are also easier to inspect, safer to work on, and less inviting to rodents and snakes looking for winter cover.

What Tejas does

Tejas Pest and Weed Control works on oilfield, commercial, and industrial sites across Andrews, Seminole, and the Permian Basin. We can:

  • Walk your tank batteries and pads with you and mark the areas that keep growing back

  • Treat around tanks, containment walls, stairs, pipe runs, and fence lines where weeds collect

  • Set up a bare-ground or pre-emergent plan that keeps your sites cleaner into spring

The teal color you see on the ground in our photos is a marking dye, so our techs and your crew can see exactly where each area was treated.
