Weeds Around Sheds, Shops, and Stored Equipment in Andrews and Seminole: A Fall Cleanup Guide

In Andrews and Seminole, late October is a good time to walk the back of the property. The summer weeds are drying out, but plenty of green growth is still hanging on around sheds, shop buildings, parked trailers, stacked pipe, and equipment that has not moved in a while. Those are the spots a mower and string trimmer cannot reach, so the weeds get thick and stay there all winter.

Tip: walk the hard-to-mow spots this week

Take ten minutes and look at the places weeds like to hide:

  • Along shed and shop walls, where the slab or skirting meets the dirt.

  • Under and around trailers, tractors, and parked equipment that sit in one place.

  • Around stacked lumber, pipe, and materials in the yard.

  • At the base of utility boxes, meter cans, AC units, and well or pump equipment.

  • Along gravel drives and parking areas, where weeds push up through the rock.

Make a quick note of what is still green and what is already dead. Green weeds are still growing, and that is when a targeted treatment works best.

Why it matters now

Our fall winds and dry winter air turn standing weeds into brittle, dry fuel that catches blowing trash. Thick growth around equipment and buildings also gives rodents, snakes, and insects a place to hide right next to your shop or home, and it makes it harder to spot a leak, a flat tire, or damage on equipment you do not check every day.

Waiting until after a hard freeze usually means treating dead tops instead of live plants. Spot-treating while the weeds are still green, then cleaning up the dead growth, gives you a cleaner yard going into winter and fewer weeds to fight in the spring.

A few things help:

  1. Keep stored items up on pallets or racks so you can see and treat underneath.

  2. Clear out old trash, boards, and tires that collect weeds and pests.

  3. Keep any bare-ground or soil-active product away from tree and shrub roots. Ask before anything is sprayed near the trees you want to keep.

What Tejas does

Tejas Pest and Weed Control treats weeds for homes, acreage, and businesses across Andrews, Seminole, and the Permian Basin. We walk the property with you, spot-treat the weeds around buildings, equipment, utility boxes, and gravel areas, and keep sprays away from the lawn, trees, and beds you want to protect. For yards that need it, we can also set up a regular weed control plan so the problem spots stay clean through the year.
